As it goes for many women that have had children - it's just too good of an excuse not to gain weight!!!
Let's see......I was always a "petite" person, yes - the kind that you want to slap! However, I never grew up with good, healthy eating habits. After school snacks were always whatever I could grab, breakfast was unheard of and the fact that my family owned a grocery store didn't help me in that I was eating processed meat sandwiches almost everynight. (Hoagies to those of you from the north!)
Anyhow, I was lucky! I didn't gain weight until I was in my mid-twenties. Even then, most of it could be attributed to the beer and bar food on weekends when I would go out with friends. Then, in my early thirties it starting coming on like a freight train!!! I went from a Size 6 to a modest size 10. And then, the 10 became a 12......my answer to that? Damn those clothes manufacturers....why are they now making clothes smaller?? Now, keep in mind through all of this that I am only 5'1".
For a time referenced weight line let's say 115lb high school, 125lb up to early thirties and then it gradually escalated. When I became pregnant at 32 I was 135 lbs. By the time the 9 months was over - a whopping 179 lbs. Frightening, isn't it? The day after my child was born I was weighed in the hospital and I still weighed 175 lbs.
Through the first year after my child was born I eventually made it down to 169 lbs - wow, 6 lbs in a year - I wasn't impressed!
